Jackalope’s Joint

started as Driftwood and Clay in 2004

Think of us like a mullet, retail in the front art in the back! It was my dreams come true when I opened Driftwood and Clay at our old location on 9th street in Canon City. I had a place to make and sell art! As the years have gone by, we have grown into an incredible community of art, artists, classes, and cactus. Quickly growing out of the original location in 2004 Driftwood moved to 111 Main Street where it is today. We have a beautiful building that was a long time floral shop here in Canon on the corner of first and main streets next to the Joint, aka Territorial Prison, which was built before Colorado was a state. This location allowed for expansion of our retail space, and the addition of much needed space. This space includes 2 beautiful greenhouses that are currently set up to grow cactus and succulents, AND is a unique art venue for live music, live art, art classes and so much more. The back greenhouse is a fully equipped pottery studio where we offer open studio time for members as well as host classes for all.

The best crew in town fills this space with creativity and laughter! Beki Javernick is the owner and founder of Driftwood and Clay, but it wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of our most awesome crew. Shari Knight, Moriah Gallagher, Cienna Stalteri-Crosby, and Julie Sutton. Pictured left to right in front of Moriah’s amazing art work is Moriah, Shari, Cienna, and Beki. Julie we need you in a group photo!

Why the name change you may ask? We are making some major changes for the better wanted something that was more! Jackalope’s are my spirit animal, so we couldn’t leave him out. Also, about 2.5 years ago my social media got hacked and still to this day, Driftwood and Clay’s old page is still active, and still gaining followers. In an attempt to set ourselves apart, here we are!
